Where the Music Began

I first recorded this piece of harp music during lockdown, with the sound of birds singing in Jesmond Dene. Recently I've been playing the harp and hang drum accompanying my sister Kitty Hedley during her guided meditation session at Shanti Bee in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

A Childhood Spark

As a child, I was inspired to learn how to play the harp, when Scottish harper, singer and storyteller Fiona Davison came to stay with our family for ' World Book Week'. Her angelic energy was captivating, listening to her play was magical.

My dad was the Headmaster at our primary school, he filled 'Book Week' with creative activities, with sessions led by travelling artists, musicians and poets. Some of my happiest childhood memories were during those wonderful creative experiences.

I had a few Harp lessons age 9, before my teacher moved to Germany. In recent years I bought a small lap harp, with the intention of having lessons again soon! This is the first piece of music I've composed and can currently play.

I hope you enjoy relaxing or meditating with this piece of music, and enjoy picking out the wonderful nature sounds recorded around the world.
